Meet Felicity, the founder of The Canine Rehab Co. She is a Chartered Physiotherapist and Veterinary Physiotherapist who spent years working with dogs and their owners to help them make the most of every moment together.

Up until The Canine Rehab Co. was formed, Felicity was delivering land based rehabilitation to dogs across Sussex and Kent. She was providing electro-therapies like laser and ultrasounds alongside developing home-based care plans that empowered owners to play an active part in their dog’s recovery.

She knew adding hydrotherapy to her treatment plans would be hugely beneficial for the dog’s she helped… but upon searching for premises she realised just how hard it was to find the perfect clinic site.

From all the planning barriers to finding a space that was practical for giving dogs 1-2-1 care without coming into contact with other dogs or people, it was certainly a challenge!

As Felicity considered how she could deliver hydrotherapy to dogs in a way that kept them calm and at ease – she suddenly had a lightbulb moment!

The mobile canine hydro epiphany

Felicity realised she could renovate a vehicle to hold all the cutting-edge specialist hydrotherapy equipment she’d need. Allowing her to give dogs and their humans the welcome relief of rehab therapies delivered directly to their door.

No travel, no petrol costs, no trying to persuade a sore and achy dog into a 2+ hour round road trip.

A bright idea for vets

Once that initial light bulb illuminated, the a-ha moments kept on flooding in for Felicity. She knew how frustrating it could be for vets to find therapists who’d work alongside them to rehabilitate their patients.

They’d refer externally and find communication a barrier to cohesive patient care or they’d fall frustratingly out of the loop of the dog’s recovery plan – making their job harder.

But training staff, buying expensive hydrotherapy equipment, and finding space in their practice to deliver hydrotherapy themselves was a MASSIVE obstacle.

The Canine Hydro Co. now partners with vet practices and brings them their very own hydro clinic to their door.

With none of the overheads but plenty of open communication and collaboration, local vet practices can now provide an unparalleled service to their patients, with none of the stumbling blocks.

“This facility is great, it opens up hydrotherapy to so many more clients. I will definitely be recommending it to my clients”

The final a-ha (for now)

The final a-ha hit when Felicity realised this tried and tested model of revolutionary rehab care was something she could roll out across the country.

She couldn’t be the only physiotherapist who wanted to give her patients more, but found the hurdles of trying to find (and fund) a physical clinic space a total roadblock.

Felicity embarked upon piecing together a franchise model that would deliver mobile hydrotherapy clinics to dogs everywhere – whilst also giving incredible therapists the ability to help more dogs without the shackles of trying to find a viable premises.
